Whilst countless numbers of people are winding themselves up for the big event, i’m doing quite the opposite. There will be no rushing about, no plans to be adhered to, no family traditions to be observed, no places to be, people to be collected, seating arrangements to be sorted out or any of the other myriad examples of seasonal chaos and craziness that typifies Christmas for so many. There’s nothing wrong with any of that, and i realise that many people thoroughly enjoy all the madness, but not me. i get my fair share of chaos and craziness throughout the year and it makes a pleasant change for me to be able to forget about all that, put my feet up and just have a quiet moment to myself.
That’s not to say i won’t be doing the festive thing… i’ll be lighting up a few candles, making myself a Christmas roast, indulging in a little festive tipple or two, but nothing rushed, rowdy or forced – it’s going to be a gentle, relaxed time – and, i dare say, i’ll be popping into sl on occasion, just to see what’s going on.
Over the course of the year, i’ve probably spent less time in sl that i did last year – it’s been a busy year, one which has been quite demanding on my time on many occasions. That, along with other factors, has meant that i’ve not spent as much time in the places that i’d usually frequent or with the people that i know – i’m hoping that things will calm down a little now and that i’ll have the opportunity to catch up with friends and places that i’ve missed, and it’s at this time of year that my thoughts tend to turn to friends and how important they are to me.
So, at this special time of year, i want to wish all of my friends, both inworld and readers of this blog – especially those of you whose paths haven’t crossed with mine for far too long – all the very best, and may this Christmas bring a special warmth and peace into your lives, and whether or not you celebrate this particular festival, my wish is the same for all of you – you see, friends are probably one of the greatest gifts that any of us can receive, and i have some of the very best, spread all over the world, both virtual and real.
Merry Christmas to you all.
Through the years
We all will be together,
If the Fates allow
Bright Eyes – Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
