- E-mail me a topic, together with a reason i should use it and, you never know, i might write a 100 word story on it - what have you got to lose? (See what's gone before here) --------------------------------------------Nobody"Nobody gets out of here alive." My chainsmoking companion looked at me sagely. He was a veteran, surviving against all the odds, but he knew his days too were numbered. "Even those who survive everything they throw at us are doomed. They cart them away, kill them, and cut up the bodies" "If I were you, pray for a quick death, not like those poor souls over there" He gestured towards the other side of the room, where our companions shivered and twitched, tortured, for no apparent reason A lab technician approached my cage. I prayed it would be quick. --------------------------------------------

When you’re strange…
Let’s talk for a moment about way back, when the internet was all fresh and still had that smell of new car about it; a time when the Web came neatly packaged on CDs stuck to the covers of computer … Continue reading

Boring!
Second Life has become boring! Let me clarify that statement. I don’t mean that SL bores me, quite the contrary, in fact – even after over a decade inworld, I can still find plenty to keep me occupied, a wealth … Continue reading

WB!
It was only just in my last post that I refused to try and predict what might happen for SL in 2022, but if I had attempted to do so, I would never in a million years have predicted yesterday’s … Continue reading

Back from the dead
Change is inevitable – like it, or loathe it, we have to learn to deal with it. For me, change is an instrinsic part of who I am and what I do: In the real world, my business is rooted … Continue reading

Tree Hugger
The longer you’ve been around in SL, the more frequently you’re reminded that the virtual world, like the real thing, is impermanent and subject to change. Over time, you become somewhat immune to people moving on and disappearing off the … Continue reading
They’re back!
It’s taken so much longer that expected, and many thought it would never happen, but ‘proper’ last names are finally back, and those who’ve always despised being known as ‘Resident’, or in the alternative, have pitied those newbies stuck with … Continue reading

Methuselah
I’m getting old! Obviously I’m not oblivious to the inevitable passage of time and the accompanying signs of aging, but apart from the odd ache, the realisation that I can no longer do all night what I used to do … Continue reading

I remember when this was all green fields…
I’m beginning to think that I’ve been around SL too long: More and more frequently, I find myself reminiscing about the good old days inworld, much like I’ve heard many of my older friends, whose time in the virtual world … Continue reading

Chew bubblegum and kick ass
I’ve gained a wealth of interesting, (some would say, worthless), knowledge as a result of my time in SL. I’m not talking the sort of academic or technical knowledge that you might think I’d value and would be of some … Continue reading

What’s in a name?
I travel a lot, an awful lot, and I’m frequently puzzled and intrigued by the names of many of the places I pass through. Quakers’ Yard; Devil’s Bridge; Hope; Hobbiton (OK, maybe not that last one!)… Evocative and sometimes perplexing … Continue reading
